If you're in Minot, North Dakota, on June 11, you can vote for a park board member.
If you're not in Minot, you can't vote for a park board member.
That's because there are three candidates vying for two seats on the Minot Park District's board, the Minot Daily News reports.
The board oversees the city's parks, and all three candidates say they want to make the parks a better place for residents.
"I would like to continue bringing my experience in long term planning, budgeting, and implementation to the Park District," says Deven Mantz, who is running with Chelsey Kirkhammer.
"The parks aren't too fun to pay for right now without adding an extra sales tax onto our citizens," says Kirkhammer.
"I am not opposed to having sales tax money go towards the parks, but it would need to be done in a way that doesn't add to the citizens' struggles," she adds.
If elected, Kirkhammer says she'll work to make the parks a better place for all.
"Some of it is definitely needed and long overdue, I would say, is not getting the whole picture," she says.
