Theresa Gattung may not be a household name in the US, but she's got a new title in her native New Zealand: Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit.
The honor is bestowed on those who have made notable contributions to New Zealand, and in Gattung's case, that includes "services to women, governance, and philanthropy," per a press release from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The 72-year-old, who's also the chair of the University of Auckland Business School's Women in Entrepreneurship program, has "continued to build on [her] focus of supporting women to lead and achieve, whileholding a range of both commercial and charitable governance roles," the release notes.
She's also been a member of the NationalAdvisory Council on the Employment of Women and on the Global Board of World Pulse.
