For more than 50 years, Georgia's Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital has been offering high school students the chance to volunteer in the medical field, WRBL reports.
This year's class of 50 students will be the first to take part in the "Youth Volunteer Program," which runs from June 3 to July 26 and requires students to complete 18 to 56 volunteer hours over the course of the program.
They'll work in different medical departments at the hospital, where they'll hear from hospital leadership, team members, and adult volunteers known as "Auxiliary" members, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports.
