When students at Ohio's Avon High School asked celebrity attorney Tim Misny if they could use his bald head to promote seat belt use, Misny agreed.
"Because first of all, we had to ask his permission, but also he sent a real nice video encouraging the students to buckle up," student resource officer Pat Sullivan tells Cleveland.com.
Avon was one of nine high schools in Lorain County to win the 2024 Buckle Up Bowl, a competition where students create a campaign to promote safe driving habits at the Avon Police Department.
"The students took a bald head app and took pictures of all the teachers, and so there were photos of bald-headed people all over the building telling everybody to buckle up," Sullivan says.
Misny sent photos of himself and his bald head to the students, who took photos of all the teachers, then created a bald-headed app of their own.
Eight other high schools in the county also took part in the Buckle Up Bowl, which focused on promoting safe driving habits through education, promotion, policies, and environmental changes.
"This is an example of when we give youth freedom to be their own voice, they really do amazing things," says Lorain County Public Health program manager Katie Bevan.
