The University of Louisiana at Monroe is getting $1 million from the feds to expand its business incubator and help more low-income businesses get off the ground, the Times-Picayune reports.
"My number one mission in Congress is to give back to our communities," US Rep.
Julia Letlow says in a press release.
"My office and I worked hard to secure the millions in funding that will be crucial for Louisiana's economic growth and prosperity."
The money will go to ULM's entrepreneurial expansion and a business incubator, according to KNOE.
The incubator will help low-income businesses get off the ground by providing them with mentors, investors, and other support.
The money will also go to upgrade existing space for K-12 institutions, establish entrepreneurship among youth, and build a resource center for under-represented populations.
"The impacts of working together to enhance the small business ecosystem and create space for entry-level and new businesses to grow and expand will create a stronger economy for our region," says Monroe Mayor Jamie Ellis. Read the Entire Article
