Employees of Baystate Health in Springfield, Mass., are getting in the holiday spirit with a toy drive and a donation to a local food bank.
The health system's Franklin Medical Center collected 200 toys for children of Martin Luther King Jr.
Family Services and the Community Action Pioneer Valley Family Center, while Baystate Medical Center collected more than 1,000 toys for children served by the American Medical Response ambulance service, the Republican reports.
"It's heartwarming to see the smiles and excitement these toys bring to our children," says Karon Forde, director of youth programs with Martin Luther King Jr.
Family Services.
"Each donation is a spark of joy and a message that they are valued and remembered."
