Teens in Colorado's Yampa Valley who want to make a positive impact on the environment can apply for a chance to do soand get some cash for their efforts.

The Hayden Granary, a historic hotel in the valley, has teamed up with nonprofits Lyra and GripTape to launch the Climate Innovation Project, the Craig Times-Call reports.

Teens ages 14 to 19 who live in the Yampa Valley and care about making a positive impact on the valley's environment can apply to lead a hands-on, independent 10-week project on a climate-related topic.

They'll receive $500 for project expenses and support from a mentoring champion.

The selected 40 students will be chosen to lead the project, and they'll be given 10 weeks to work on their chosen topic.

"Through this project, you have an opportunity to explore your curiosities and passion for our soil, air, and water and find ways to make an impact on our local community," the project website says.
