The Super Bowl is coming to Las Vegas in February, but the week leading up to it has been a rough one for one local charity.
First, the city's chamber of commerce announced it would be closing its doors for three weeks following the big game, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The closure is meant to give the city time to prepare for the influx of visitors that's expected, as well as to give the local chamber of commerce time to figure out how to handle the huge influx of tourists that's expected, the Review-Journal notes.
Meanwhile, the Las Vegas chapter of the Sports Philanthropy Network, a nonprofit that aims to use the power of sports to create positive social change, announced it would be closing its doors for good after failing to reach its fundraising goal for the year, the Review-Journal reports.
"We are proud to have Alexis Levi represent the Sports Philanthropy Network at the Super Bowl 58 Brunch," the network's national executives said in a statement.
"Her presence at this prestigious event underscores our organization's dedication to making a difference through sports."
The network had set a goal of raising $1 million by the end of 2018 to fund programs that address youth development, education, health, and wellness, the Review-Journal Read the Entire Article
