The New York State Council on the Arts has awarded a $30,000 grant to the Arts Council of Rockland to help it "expand programs, resources, and services for local artists and art organizations," the group's executive director tells Patch.
The money is part of $46 million in grants announced by Gov.
Kathy Hochul on Wednesday.
"Nonprofit arts and culture organizations and their audiences generated $151.7 billion in economic activity nationwide in 2022 and New York's unparalleled arts and culture sector is leading the way to benefit our residents, our students, and our visitors every day," Hochul said in the announcement.
The grants are part of the state's $40 billion "For the People" initiative.
