Ex-Standard Reporter Wins £10,000 Prize

The founder and editor-in-chief of a social enterprise magazine has won a $10,000 prize from the University of Cambridge.

Tim West, who worked as a reporter at the Henley Standard in the 1990s, is the founder and editor-in-chief of Pioneers Post, a social enterprise magazine, the BBC reports.

He was awarded the prize for "professional and personal development" by Trinity Hall and the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation.

West will receive mentoring from experts at the Cambridge Judge Business School and support from Trinity Hall to develop resources and skills.

"Although I've spent more than 20 years at the heart of the social impact space, it's actually quite easy to feel disassociated, particularly as a journalist, and somehow an observer rather than 'a real social entrepreneur,' so winning this prize is personally very affirming," West says.
