Spencer Cox is trying to do something about the state's sky-high health care costs.
He's created the One Utah Health Collaborative, a group that's trying to figure out how to make health care more efficient and affordable, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
The Collaborative's Innovation Advisory Board is made up of "diverse and exceptionally qualified members who will advise and execute on innovation in the state," says its director of innovation.
"What a unique opportunity to bring a group of individuals together that come from many of these respected organizations and bring this innovative mindset," says board chair Dan McMaster of 3M Health Care, a global leader in health care technology and innovation.
"These leaders believe in doing what's right for the individual patient andshare a commitment to make the necessary changes that will ultimately lower costs and improve health outcomes for individuals."
The board's first task: figure out how to make the state's Medicaid program more user-friendly.
The state is already working with Brigham Young University and the University of Utah to figure out how to make Medicaid's drug-prescribing process more efficient, the Deseret News reports.
