Farwell Foundation announces $500000 donation to support the Black Business Hub

Wisconsin's Urban League of Greater Madison broke ground on a $26 million project in April that it says will "create jobs, generate wealth, incubate new ideas, nurture talent, and so much more" for minorities in the Madison area, and it just got its biggest donation ever.

The Farwell Foundation has donated $500,000 to the project, which will be known as the Black Business Hub, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.

"We believe firmly in our duty to make this world, and more specifically, Madison, a better place," Farwell Foundation director Samantha Weston says in a press release.

"In particular, we place emphasis on offering our assistance to those members and segments of our community that have not been given equal access to the resources that they deserve."

The Hub, which will be located in South Madison, will be a one-stop shop that will offer training, educational support, loans, grants, business coaching and mentoring, networking opportunities, and more, the Urban League says.

It's the largest project in the organization's history, and a part of a larger renaissance in the South Madison corridor, an area that has long experienced under-investment.

By 2025, the Hub expects to help grow or launch at least 200 new businesses.
