The Boys and Girls Club of the Tri-County Area in Ripon, Wis., is about to get a $14 million boost from the state.
The Wisconsin State Building Commission has awarded the group a $551,000 grant to fund the construction of a new building, which is expected to be finished next spring, the Ripon Press reports.
"From supporting our veterans and first responders, to ensuring people of all abilities can enjoy our state's tourism attractions and our youth have a safe place to grow," state Sen.
Mark Ballweg says in a statement.
The grant is part of a $50 million state program that aims to help non-state organizations with "a statewide public purpose and positive impact on their community," Ballweg says.
The Boys and Girls Club of the Tri-County Area has been in the works for nine years.
"The original vision was quite grand and aims to serve a wider age range of youth in even more ways than maybe any club in the country," the group's executive director says.
