The Boys and Girls Club of Tyler County will be able to offer 25 kids a free summer of physical fitness, social interactions, mental health, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and community involvement programs thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Memorial Health Foundation.
The foundation, a not-for-profit organization, awards two grant cycles per year to support local non-profits with similar missions to the Memorial Health System, which includes three hospitals and more than 3,000 people, the Herald-Leader reports.
The Boys and Girls Club of Tyler County's summer program will include education, leadership, physical fitness, social interactions, mental health, STEAM, and community involvement programs, among others.
"The grant will provide the summer club membership dues and cover: One grab-and-go breakfast per child per day ?'One hot lunch, per child, per day ?'One grab-and-go snack, per child, per day ?'Field trips ?'Boys and Girls Club nationally trained Youth Development Professionals caring for club members and implementing quality programming," the organization's CEO says.
