When It Comes To Start-Up Success, Age Really Is Just A Number

If you're in your 20s and looking to launch a business, there's good news and bad news.

The good news is that the average age of a successful founder in the US is 45, Business Insider reports.

The bad news is that just 6% of entrepreneurs in 2022 were between 20 and 30, and 64% were 40 or older, Statista reports.

But there's a silver lining: "Success can happen at any age and we should discourage young people from putting out deadlines on their dreams," says entrepreneur Kate Berski, who now helps quarter-lifers take back their 20s and feel confident in their 30s.

Here's what else you should know about starting a business in your 30s: Don't focus on your age.

"Your experience is what really matters when it comes to successful entrepreneurship," says SCORE's Emma Waldman.

Focus on your network.

You're more likely to meet like-minded people when starting a new venture, and you'll have the time to build and nurture relationships.
