Amateur theater groups in the UK will soon be putting on their own production of Les Misérables to celebrate the musical's 40th anniversary, the Telegraph reports.
The production, which will take place in Liverpool in 2025, will be the first of its kind in the UK.
"This is a new and exciting way of working, celebrating the work of, and raising the profile of, amateur and community-based theater companies," says a rep for the Liverpool Empire Theatre, which will be co-producing the production with Tip Top Productions and Romiley Operatic Society.
The production will involve "many hundreds of amateur performers around the country, becoming part of our own year-long celebrations," says the rep for Music Theatre International, which will be licensing the show and helping with the production.
