When the Vermont Jazz Center closes its 2023-24 season in 2024, it will no longer be known as the Vermont Jazz Center.
Instead, it will be known as the Eugene Uman Center for the Advancement of Jazz Studies.
That's because the renowned jazz pianist and director of the center will be leaving his post at the end of the season, the Barre-Montpelier Times Argus reports.
According to the center's website, Uman will continue to work with the musicians he has worked with for more than 30 years, including horn player Haneef Nelson, bassist Jason Robinson, drummer Joel "Pibo" M ? 'rquez, andsaxophone player Cameron Brown.
