Kid-Inspired Safety Gadgets : Smartwatch Phone for Kids

If your child is too young to have a smartphone, there's a new gadget for you: the TickTalk 5, a smartwatch phone that's also a safety device, Consumerist reports.

The app-based device lets parents track their kids' activity, access trusted contacts, and block unknown numbers.

It also features free music, HD video calling, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera.

"The development of communication devices tailored specifically for younger users, blending ease of use with robust safety functions, is redefining childhood connectivity," says a report from market research firm IDC.

The TickTalk 5 is available for $149.99 on the TickTalk website, with a pay-as-you-go cellular plan starting at $9.99 a month.
