The education system in Kosovo is about to undergo a major overhaul.
The country's Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation has released a draft of a new Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum that UNICEF says "will tap into the unlimited potential of all children by offering diverse learning and exploration opportunities and promote the crucial role of parents in their children's education and development."
The new curriculum, which has been in the works since 2023, "will foster exploration, play, and meaningful experiences for children in early education settings," the ministry says in a statement.
It adds that the new curriculum " nurtures social, emotional, and physical well-being of every child, and meaningfully integrate children with developmental delays and/or disabilities."
The new curriculum, which will be piloted in early 2024, "brings a reformed perspective to early education, emphasizing a holistic, child-centered approach," the ministry says.
According to UNICEF, the new curriculum "will tap into the unlimited potential of all children by offering diverse learning and exploration opportunities and promote the crucial role of parents in their children's education and development."
