The city of Evanston, Ill., is putting its money where its mouth is.
The Evanston Arts Council has awarded a record $99,000 in grants to 27 nonprofit arts organizations over the next decade, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The money comes from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Illinois Arts Council, and the city's budget.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the grants average $4,000 each and will go to groups that include arts education, theater, visual and literary arts, music, and more.
Seven of the 27 recipients are based in Evanston, and eight are led by people who identify as black, indigenous, or people of color, the arts council says.
Two organizations that received funding last year didn't make the cut this year.
