When New Jersey resident Samantha Pearlman Mazuz lost her mother in a car accident when she was 19, she didn't think much of what would happen to her for the rest of her life.
"I didn't know what I was going to do," she tells the Press of Atlantic City.
"I didn't know what I was going to do with my life.
I didn't know what I was going to do with my career.
I didn't know what I was going to do with my time.
I didn't know what I was going to do with my legacy.
I didn't know what I was going to do with the rest of my life."
But Mazuz, who now lives in Texas, didn't let that stop her from giving back to her community.
She's currently the chief engagement officer at a church in San Antonio, where she spends much of her time, and she's giving $5,000 to the Jewish Federation of Ocean City's annual campaign.
"Through their incredibly generous annual gifts, we simply would not exist, and we are so grateful for their support philanthropic leadership," the organization's executive director says.
Mazuz is one of 30 Jewish women in the Jewish Federations of North America
