A northern New York hospital is getting $5.1 million from the state to expand its children's mental health unit.
The Ogdensburg hospital, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, has been awarded the grant from the New York State Office of Mental Health to add 10 additional beds to its Children and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, which is the region's only center dedicated to the mental well-being of young individuals, reports the Daily News.
"This much needed expansion will add 10 additional beds to the unit, providing essential support to meet the escalating demand for children's mental health services in our community," says Rich Duvall, president and CEO of Carthage Area Hospital, which is part of the North Star Health Alliance.
