Palestinian Uses Vr to Treat Palestinian Children Traumatized by Israeli War

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are using virtual reality to help them cope with the devastation of last year's war, the New York Times reports.

A Palestinian man named Musaab Ali has created a virtual-reality app for children that allows them to play with objects and see the world around them in 3D.

He says he came up with the idea after his 2-year-old son, who was wounded in the war, told him he wanted to play in a virtual world.

"He said, 'I want to be in a virtual world,'" Ali tells the Times.

"I said, 'Why not?' He said, 'Because I am a child, and I want to be in a virtual world.' And I said, 'Because I am a child, and I want to be in a virtual world.'" The app, called My Gaza, allows children to play with objects and see the world around them in 3D.

"It's a relief, it's a relief for the children, it's a relief for the parents, it's a relief for the whole family," says Ali.

"It's a relief to be able to look at the world through a child's eyes."
