A safe place for at-risk youth in Bell County, Texas, has received a $10,000 grant from a local foundation.
The Bell Community Foundation awarded the money to the 411 House, which is located in the former home of civil rights activist Myrtle Captain, reports the Austin American-Statesman.
The focus of the house is to grow relationships through mentorship and bible study, to build community through community dinners and family celebrations, and to offer experiences through local events, field trips, and summer camp, per a news release from the foundation.
"Each of the 411 House programs is done to either provide a safe space, build relationships with God, self, and others, offer spiritual enrichment, teach life skills, and open doors to new opportunities," says Kim White, founder and executive director of the 411 House.
