An off-duty police officer in Greeneville, Tenn., has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man who was trying to run away, the Times-News reports.
According to the Greeneville Daily News, officers were called to the scene of the shooting around 3:45am Sunday and found the body of 31-year-old Randall Sanders in the backyard of his home.
Police say Sanders had been trying to run away from his girlfriend, who was home at the time, when he was shot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say there was no sign of forced entry into the home, and no one was injured in the shooting.
