Governor Moore Announces Appointments to the Governor's Commission on Hispanic Affairs

Maryland Gov.

Wes Moore has appointed nine new members to the state's Commission on Hispanic Affairs, the Baltimore Sun reports.

According to a press release, the commission is tasked with advising the governor on behalf of Maryland's Hispanic and Latino communities.

Among the new members: Dr. Ernesto Chanona, from Mexico.

He leads the business development and government affairs division of CSSi LifeSciences.

Dr. Felipe Amin Filomeno, from Brazil.

He's an associate professor of political science and global studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Dr. Diana Acosta, from El Salvador.

She's the director of programs at VineCorps and has worked for more than a decade doing community work, youth development, and program management in the nonprofit sector.

Dr. Alicia Altamirano, from Costa Rica.

She was previously legal director for Luminus and chaired the Maryland Democratic Latino Diversity Leadership Council.

Dr. Ninorah Olmos, from Mexico.

She's the founding president and chief executive officer of Latino Education Advancement Fund.

Dr. Stephanie Landaverde, from Peru.

She's a Peruvian mother and daughter.

Dr. Luz Hernandez, from Puerto Rico.

She's an assistant professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at Columbia University Read the Entire Article
