Students at the University of Houston are getting a big boost in their energy studies thanks to a $100,000 grant from oil and gas company Baker Hughes, the Houston Chronicle reports.
The money will go to the university's Energy Transition Institute to support its environmental justice research and workforce development programs.
"Thanks to the generous support of the Baker Hughes Foundation, the UH Energy Transition Institute will be able to expand its cutting-edge work on the social and community impacts of energy projects and new clean technologies, and address critical workforce development needs," says the founding director of ETI.
The institute focuses on "the creation and use of reliable, affordable, environmentally responsible energy for all through a just and equity-driven pathway," according to a press release.
