The University of Louisville's Health Equity Innovation Hub andRender, an innovation studio, have teamed up with the Kentucky Department for Public Health, the Office of Health Equity, and Access Ventures to launch a new $1.5 million challenge: the Reconstruct Challenge, which will award $1.5 million in development funding to 15 winners in the Louisville area who will then work with community partners to pilot their innovations in the region, the Courier-Journal reports.
The winners will be selected in five categories: food, access, maternal and child health, non-emergency medical transportation, and access to health care in the Louisville area.
The winning innovations will get $100,000 each to work with community partners to pilot their ideas in a 12- to 18-month proof-of-concept phase, then additional funding.
The challenge is the third in a series by Access Ventures, which has previously focused on affordable housing and employment barriers.
