News: Rotherham Community Hub Seeks Helping Hands

Jodie Goodall is an enterprising UK mom who's turned a vacant community center into a place where people can get fit, have fun, and support one anotherand she's looking for volunteers to help keep it that way.

The South Yorkshire Times reports on Goodall's efforts at the Brecks Community Hub, which she took over last year after a long-term tenant left and a pandemic took its toll.

"I used to hire the space for fitness classes and then the long-term tenant called time on their stewardship of the community center and as a result of the pandemic the center remained out of action for a few years," Goodall tells the Times.

"I'd always dreamed of owning my own gym and fitness center, so I swooped in and took on the lease of the building," Goodall says.

"Since then I have worked hard to bring the hub back to life and a center for the community."

Among its uses: baby and toddler sessions, classes for yoga, pilates, and karate, and a diabetes support group.
