The League of American Orchestras has just awarded the Winston-Salem Symphony a $75,000 three-year grant to help it advance diversity and inclusion within its own organization, the Winston-Salem Journal reports.
"As the hometown orchestra for the City of Arts and Innovation, we are ideally situated to adopt the incubator and laboratory model as we accelerate our own EDI work and collaborate with orchestras across the country to better represent and engage our communities," says Winston-Salem Symphony President and CEO Merritt Vale in a press release.
The Catalyst Fund Incubator is a high-tech program that works with other orchestras to create "strong peer communities for brainstorming and strategizing and developing new ideas through mentorships," per the Journal.
The recipients of the three-year grants are one of just 20 orchestras in the country.
