Investing in Blockchain, Web3, and Ai for Social Impact

The UN's Venture Fund is putting its money where its mouth is, in the form of three new startups it says are bringing "social impact and results for children" to some of the world's poorest countries.

The startupsRumsan in Nepal, Xcapit in Argentina, and Tilli in Sri Lankaare using blockchain and artificial intelligence to solve some of the world's most pressing problems, including providing access to financial services for the underbanked and increasing transparency and accountability in humanitarian aid delivery, TechCrunch reports.

In Nepal, for instance, the companies say they've used blockchain to manage digital cash and voucher assistance, while in Argentina, they've used cryptocurrency to offer financial planning and savings tools to the unbanked and underbanked.

In Sri Lanka, the companies say they've developed a low-cost, low-connectivity digital wallet for feature phones that allows even those without advanced smartphones or stable internet connections to participate in the digital economy.

The startups will receive up to $400,000 in growth funding, available in both fiat and cryptocurrency.
