Parents in a 10-county area of Michigan are hoping a $2 million grant will help them figure out what child care is needed in their communities.

Per MLive.com, Networks Northwest in Traverse City has received a $150,000 grant from the state's Child Care Innovation Fund to develop a plan to expand child care offerings in the region.

"Child care has always been something that has informed our work," Jessica Willis, Networks Northwest's chief program officer, tells MLive.com.

"Now, Networks Northwest wants to take a multi-faceted, region-wide approach to addressing the child care crisis."

The group plans to bring together parents, child care providers, local government officials, and employers to come up with a plan, and Willis says some of the grant will be used to compensate parents and child care providers for their contributions.

The group also plans to explore ways to increase the number of people who are qualified and willing to work in the child care industry. Read the Entire Article
